A familiar group of Happy Valley sprinters clash again in this competitive Class 3 handicap over the minimum trip, with several runners bringing closely matched course-and-distance form into the race.
The market is likely to focus on Together We Value, who has yet to win in Hong Kong but has shaped better than the bare results suggest. The son of Night Of Thunder has finished strongly in three consecutive runs over this course and distance, repeatedly making up ground from difficult positions. With Zac Purton taking the ride, another bold effort looks likely, although his hold-up style leaves him dependent on a strong pace and luck in running around the tight Valley circuit.
Course specialist Bunta Baby appeals as a major player. He has already won three times over this course and distance in 2026 and was not disgraced when drawn wide on his latest start. Back under more suitable circumstances, he looks set to be competitive once again and arguably brings the most reliable profile in the field.
Few horses have been as consistent as Horsepower, who has finished runner-up in three consecutive C&D handicaps. Those efforts have produced some of the strongest ratings on offer, but stall 11 presents a significant challenge. He has the ability to feature prominently again, though he may need everything to fall perfectly from his wide berth.
Robot Lucky Star is one of the more intriguing contenders. A relatively lightly raced four-year-old, he won over 5f at Sha Tin earlier in his career and has held his form well over 6f since. The return to the minimum trip could prove beneficial, and if he can overcome a wide draw he has the potential to improve further.
Among the possible outsiders, Central Bank is worth monitoring. The New Zealand-bred import showed much more on his latest start when fifth over this course and distance and now benefits from a better draw. Further progress would not be a surprise.
Sky Cap has already won twice this season and was placed in this grade over C&D before disappointing last time. With Joao Moreira booked and stall 3 in his favour, he is capable of bouncing back if returning to his earlier form.
Race Verdict
The race looks likely to be run at a sound pace, which should suit the stronger finishers. While Together We Value is respected and may be the horse with the most obvious winning opportunity if the race unfolds to suit, Bunta Baby appeals as the more dependable option given his proven record around Happy Valley's sharp 5f.
