'Bo Didley' - Bo Didley

On the 20th of November 1955 Bo Didley made an appearance on th Ed Sullivan show on US television. He had been booked to sing his version of 'Sixteen tons' but when he arrived on stage he sang his own song 'Bo Didley instead. As a result he was never asked to appear on the show again.
Bo Didley  played a huge part in the transition of African American blues to Rock music. He was known as 'The originator' and was a major influence on artists like Buddy Holly, The Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Hendrix The Clash and Velvet Underground. In fact the bo Didley rhythm can be heard echoing through over five decades of rock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgBbmuD_LQw
