'Southern man' - Neil Young

On the 12th of November 1945 Canadian singer songwriter Neil Young was born. He played with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby Stills, Nash and Young as well as having a long solo career.
'After the gold rush' released in 1970 and ranked by Rolling stone magazine at #71  in their greatest albums of all time, contained the song 'Southern man.'

The lyrics of 'Southern man' describe the racism toward black people in the American south, and this song plus 'Alabama' from Young's 1972 album 'Harvest' inspired southern rock band Lynyrd Sknyrd  to write the classic 'Sweet home Alabama' in response.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVdRjenmpFI
'I saw cotton and I saw black. Tall white mansions and little shacks.
Southern man when will you pay them back?'
